Speaking at a program here on Thursday, Dahal said that the ruling parties Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) should instead respond to former King Shah’s statement. In the message he issued on the occasion of the Democracy Day, the former King had asked the political parties to implement the past understandings and agreements reached with him before he reinstated the parliament in April 2006 and stepped down.
Addressing the program, Dahal remarked that the ruling parties had sidelined his party from the Constituent Assembly (CA), but claimed it was for good because it brought his party closer to the people. He claimed that the NC and UML were taking advantage of Maoist leaders’ honesty.
In the program, Dahal also accused the NC and UML of disregarding the popular mandate and trying to move ahead in a totalitarian fashion.
Likewise, UCPN (Maoist) general secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the party’s present conflict was against the status-quoists and the regressive forces and claimed that their protests programs would defeat the latter. RSS
